Work and Employment in the Global Economy (Level 4; 10 ECTS credits)
This is an advanced elective module open to graduate students of the UCD Colleges of Business, Social Sciences and Law, as well as the European Masters in Labor Studies (EMLS) students from UCD and other members of the EMLS network. It analyses the impact of globalisation, European integration, and the EU's new economic governance regime on work and employment and compares the changes in European employment relations with recent developments in the USA and Asia. The module includes a field trip to the tripartite EU agency 'Eurofound' (European Foundation for the Improvement of Working and Living Conditions) in Dublin.
European Industrial Relations and Human Resources (Level 3; 5 ECTS credits)
This is a core module for the students of our UCD-Cornell ILR (industrial and labor relations) programme and an elective module open to all business, law and social science undergraduate students. It introduces them to European integration, European industrial relations and international human resources management. The module includes a 3-day study trip to Brussels where students have direct access to actors that shape the emerging multi-level European employment relations system, i.e. European employer and trade union federations, Commission officials and Members of the European Parliament.
